Indian region approves PPP plan

The Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board in India has approved the plans for water PPP scheme.

The overall project involves building a water treatment plant and ultimately providing residents of the city of Coimbatore with 24-hour drinking water.

Originally, plans for the project had been rejected, however following recommendations from a transaction adviser and changes in the financial structure, the council has now opted to approve the plan.

Other key projects the Infrastructure development board has recently approved include the High Priority State Roads Upgradation Project and Madurai - Thoothukudi Industrial Corridor.

No set date has been released for the tender but it is expected the project will be operational by 2017.
