The Thai government is to conclude its criteria for future PPP projects, setting the relevant thresholds for approval.
Finance Minister Sommai Phasee has said the government’s committee on PPP, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, will conclude its considerations on the criteria for deals this week.
Under the new criteria, the finance minister explained that projects valued at under 1bn baht ($30m) can be approved by the minister of the relevant department.
Projects valued above that level will be required to be approved by the PPP committee.
However, projects valued at between 1-5bn baht ($30-150m) may be approved by the relevant ministry, depending on the individual nature of the project.
