Egypt plans new admin capital

Last month, Egypt’s PPP Central Unit director, Atter Hannoura, told that the country is preparing to deliver a series of cross-sector PPP deals over the course of 2015.

Egypt is reported to be looking to inspire depositors for a new administrative capital that would house up to seven million residents, it has been reported.

According to the Financial Times, the country’s housing ministry is planning to reveal the plans at a major investor conference this weekend and is looking for investment in a 700sq km new city designed to reduce overcrowding in Cairo itself.

Under the so-called Capital Cairo project, the government would look to private partner with a range of Gulf-based investors to provide the project, with the government providing the land.
