The Central government has given the approval to the proposal of launching new Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) in Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode in the state of Assam, Tripura and Manipur.
The selected areas are Guwahati, Bodhjungnagar and Senapati respectively. The scheme approves about Rs. 128 crore to each IIIT .This is to be allotted in the ratio of 50:35:15 by the Central Government, the State Government and the industry respectively.
In the North-Eastern states, the industry participation for capital disbursement will be kept at 7.5% and Central Government participation at 57.50% while State Governments at 35%.
In IIIT Guwahati, Assam, Academic Session has started during the Year 2013-14 with 60 seats in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE). An amount of Rs. 5.00 crores was given to this Institute in the F.Y 2013-14 and Rs. 2.95 crores in the F.Y 2014-15.
