Jamaica extends airport deadline

The pre-qualification deadline for the P3 has been extended. The government of Jamaica issued the request for qualifications for the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) PPP in December with bids due January 19, but has now extended the deadline to February 2. The government is seeking a private operator to complete the planned modernization and expansion of the facilities and improve the efficiency of operations under a concession contract. The winning bidder will develop, finance, operate and maintain the airport. NMIA is currently operated under a 30-year concession agreement signed in 2003 between NMIA Airports Ltd, and the Airports Authority of Jamaica. The International Finance Corporation is operating as lead advisor, with the Development Bank of Jamaica and the government’s Privatization Agency and PPP Unit also overseeing the proposals.
