The Kenya PPP Unit has contracted Maritime & Transport Business Solutions (MTBS) of Netherlands as its Transaction Advisor for the Kisumu Port Development Project. Mr. Frank Luisman (director MTBS) on behalf of MTBS signed the contract.
The Kisumu Port Development Project concentrating on the PPP transaction of the Kisumu inland port is supported by World Bank. The PPP transaction shall include the development, operation and maintenance of the port.
MTBS shall provide all support in preparing and implementing the transaction, including market forecasting, PPP structuring, contract and transaction process design and application support.
The Treasury’s Public-Private Partnership Unit (PPPU) said the group will undertake a possible study on the commercial and technical viability of the project to be implemented by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
The project involves in development of Kisumu Port into a modern commercial Lake Port to serve the growing trade in the EAC region on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis.
