PPP expert leads Chadbourne Africa office

Law firm Chadbourne has opened a new office in South Africa and has appointed a project finance expert as the new location’s managing partner.

Lido Fontana has joined as an international partner in the firm’s project finance team and will lead the newly opened Johannesburg office as Chadbourne seeks to capitalise on the city’s reputation as a gateway in Sub-Saharan Africa for international banks, multilateral agencies, development and financing institutions and investors.

Fontana has significant experience in the PPP market, having advised a range of clients including the International Finance Corporation, London’s Olympic Delivery Authority and the John Laing-led consortium on the Intercity Express Programme in the UK.

Known as Chadbourne & Park, the firm’s Johannesburg operation enhances its existing African offering, which includes lawyers with in-depth experience in cross-border transactions in Africa, the UK, France, the Middle East and the US.
