Cosette Canilao, PPP Executive Director of The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center said that it is going to sign the contract for the P3.5 billion Integrated Transport System-Southwest Terminal project.
She said the notice of award was given out on Jan 23 to the bidders, MWM Terminals, a consortium of Megawide Construction Corp and WM Property Management Inc.
“Hopefully we can sign next week. The access permit has been given by the property owner so we can start,” Canilao said.
The project, single-stage bidding, was petitioned. It was structured as build-transfer-operate (BTO) with a 35-year cooperation period, inclusive of the construction stage.
The main object of this project is to provide a central transport terminal where all modes of transport will be available in one location. Inter-connection between different transport modes and services is the main aim which will ensure unbroken travel for the commuting public.
The terminal will be constructed in a 4.59-hectare area. It will link passengers coming from the Cavite side to other transport systems such as the future LRT Line 1 South Extension, city bus, taxi, and other public utility vehicles that are serving inner Metro Manila.
Passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, and park-ride facilities are also included in this project
MWM Terminals will look after the design, construction, and financing of the ITS terminal as well as the operation and maintenance of the whole facility. It can also carry out commercial development and collect revenues produced from the same.
