Teams interested in PPP model in Spanish hospital


The Aragon government published a tender for the Alcaniz Hospital PPP. Four bids were submitted in March which opened last week. The final selection is under process. The winner is expected to be declared in May.


The bid considered by the regional government of Aragon is for the €450m hospital project in the town of Alcaniz, Teruel. The construction is expected to be start in August.


The four bidding teams are: Ferrovial, Mariano López Navarro and Sacyr, OHL and Iridium (ACS), Inabensa (Abengoa), Assignia (Essentium) and Meridiam


The total contract period is of 23 years. The private partner is expected to take care of the design, construct, maintain and operate the facility for the Aragon Health Service (Servicio Aragonés de Salud).


Construction is likely to take 2.5 years with completion expected in 2018 and cost €120m. The total value of the project is over €451m. The Government of Aragon shall reimburse an annual fee of €15.4m for the use of the facility.
